Planet Models 172 SNCASE SE-100

The SNCASE SE.100 was a prototype French heavy fighter from the Second World War. The flight of the prototype of the machine took place in March 1939, but the machine never entered mass production. The drive was provided by two motors Gnome-Rhone 14N-20 with 1080 KM each . The plane was supposed to be able to reach the maximum speed estimated at 580 km / h. The prototype was armed with 5 20mm Hispano-Suiza HS.404 cannons.

The design of the SNCASE SE.100 machine was largely based on the assumptions of the LeO50 aircraft, but it assumed the use of much more powerful engines. The new machine was very modern at that time: it was completely made of metal, had relatively powerful engines, and above all had powerful defensive weapons. The machine clearly dominated the Potez 631 fighter, which was already in the line. All this made the French Air Force very quickly become interested in the new plane and planned to introduce it into service at the end of 1940. However, the fall of France in the summer of the same year shattered these plans. In total, only one prototype of the SNCASE SE.100 aircraft was created.
