Junkers D.1 (J9) is a German, single-engine fighter in the low wing configuration with a classic tail from the First World War. It was the first plane in the world to be built entirely of duralumin. Despite the enormous innovation of the design, the plane was not met with favor by the military authorities of the Second Reich, or with German pilots. It was difficult to produce and very time-consuming, and the pilots considered it too little maneuvering. Therefore, it was widely used as a reconnaissance aircraft.
