SFOR is an abbreviation that stands for the NATO Stabilization Force, which was directed to Bosnia and Herzegovina under the Dayton Agreements of November 1995 and was to lead to a successful end to hostilities in this area, as well as to ensure the implementation of peace decisions. In 2002, these forces numbered about 12,000 people, and in 2005, that is, at the end of operations - about 7,000 soldiers. The Polish Army sent the PMC (Polish Military Contingent) to Bosnia and Herzegovina under SFOR. To some extent, SFOR has been linked to the activities carried out in Kosovo since 1999 by the Kosovo Force (KFOR) aimed at preventing the displacement and persecution of Kosovars by the Serbian government led by Slobodan Milosevic. A significant difference between the KFOR and SFOR forces was their numbers - the former, at the time of the launch of the operation, consisted of around 50,000 soldiers from over 30 countries around the world. For example, Great Britain sent as many as 19 thousand. people, USA - 7 thousand. soldiers, Germany - 6 thousand people, and Poland - 230 soldiers.
