DISCONTINUED Azur 72104 Supermarine Sea Otter Mk.I Civilian Service

The Supermarine Sea Otter was a British mixed biplane flying boat with a retractable landing gear dating back to World War II. The drive was provided by a single engine Bristol Mercury XXX with 965 hp. The prototype flight took place in 1938. In the course of serial production, which lasted in the years 1942-1945, approx. 290 examples of this aircraft were produced. They were armed with 3 7.7 mm Vickers machine guns and a load of up to 450 kg of bombs.

The Supermarine Sea Otter was created as the successor to the very successful Supermarine Walrus flying boat. Despite the fact that the prototype of the new machine was first flown in 1938, the introduction of constant corrections and modifications meant that the machine entered production only in 1942! Two versions were created in the course of it. The first of them was designated as Sea Otter Mk. I - it was a reconnaissance version dedicated to the British Navy aviation. The second is the Sea Otter Mk. II, which acted as a sea rescue aircraft and was used by the RAF. The planes entered the line in 1944 and served both in Europe and the Far East. Small batches of Supermarine Sea Otter also found their way into the Air Force of Australia, Denmark, the Netherlands and the Free French.
