HSwMS Tre Kronor was a Swedish cruiser of World War II and the post-war period. The vessel was launched in 1944, and it entered service in 1947. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 182 meters, and the width was 16.45 meters. Full displacement reached about 9,300 tons, and maximum speed - to about 33 knots. The on-board armament of the unit at the time of launching included: 7 152 mm Bofors, 20 40 mm guns and 6 torpedo tubes.
The Tre Kronor was the leading unit of the cruiser class of the same name. The Tre Kronor ships were developed as a result of analyzes carried out by the Swedish Navy shortly after the outbreak of World War II. The conclusions drawn clearly indicated the necessity to have at least two well-armed cruisers - especially anti-aircraft weapons. The ship design was made at the Italian CRDA shipyard, and the Tre Kronor vessel was built at the Gotaverken shipyard on the island of Hisingen. Shortly after entering service, the ship was modernized, including the addition of a radar. As early as 1958, the cruiser Tre Kronor was placed in reserve, and ten years later it was used to build a pontoon bridge.
