Trattore Autocaro Sahariana AS.37 is an Italian light military truck from the Second World War. The first prototypes appeared in 1937, and serial production continued in 1938-1943. About 800 vehicles of this type were built in its course. The drive was provided by a single 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 4 liters. The truck was 4.67 meters long and 2.02 meters wide.
Trattore Autocaro Sahariana AS.37 was developed in SPA plants based on the frame of the LT.37 light artillery tractor. The new vehicle was designed from the outset primarily to operate in desert conditions in North Africa. One of its main advantages was the great range of up to 900 kilometers. The car was also able to transport up to 8 soldiers with full equipment and an adequate supply of water. It enjoyed a good reputation among the military due to its excellent off-road driving characteristics (it had a 4x4 drive) and the already mentioned long range. The main disadvantage of the AS.37 was its tall silhouette, which was easily visible in the desert. The Trattore Autocaro Sahariana AS.37 vehicles served during the campaign in North Africa in 1940-1943.
