The 75mm M3 (other designation: T8 Gun) is an American 75mm tank gun from the Second World War. The gun was the primary armament of many versions of the M4 Sherman, and was also mounted on later M3 Lee versions and on Churchill III and IV tanks, especially those used in the Mediterranean. The presented gun was a development of the M2 cannon of the same caliber, and the main difference was the use of a 40-caliber barrel (i.e. 300 centimeters) instead of a 31-caliber barrel. This seemingly simple change improved the gun's ballistic properties, and most of all, the initial velocity of shells fired from it increased. Still, the M3 gun was primarily dedicated to providing support to its own infantry, and not to fighting enemy armored vehicles. Therefore, its properties in this respect were rather limited.
