USS Arkansas (BM-7) was an American monitor from the beginning of the 20th century and the period of the First World War. The keel for this vessel was laid in 1899, and the launch took place in November 1900. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 77.8 meters and the width was 15 meters. Full displacement reached approx. 3,400 tons, and the maximum speed was approx. 12.5 knots. The armament at the time of launching consisted of two 305 mm guns, four 102 mm guns and three 57 mm guns.
The USS Arkansas (BM-7) was the leading unit of the monitor class of the same name. It was created in connection with the desire to strengthen the defense of the American coasts during the American-Spanish War of 1898. They were also among the last monitor ships to be built for the US Navy. The USS Arkansas, belonging to this class, was stationed in the Atlantic in the period 1903-1906, performing, among others, the role of a training ship. In 1909, the ship's name was changed to USS Ozark. From 1913, it served as a submarine tender, but its main armament was retained. In 1914 he was stationed in the Tampico area, and in 1915 he was transferred to a base in New London, Connecticut. In 1917, he returned to the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. However, in 1919 it was transferred to the reserve, and in 1922 - it was scrapped.
