USS Dallas (SSN-700) was an American nuclear powered fighter submarine (SSN). The keel for this unit was laid in 1976, the launch took place in April 1979, and the commissioning of the US Navy took place in July 1981. The length of the ship at the time of launching was 110.3 m, width 10 m, and the underwater displacement - approx. 6,900 tons. The maximum underwater speed is approx. 31-32 knots. The unit had four 533 mm torpedo tubes.

USS Dallas (SSN-700) was one of the Los Angeles-class ships. Units of this type were developed as a completely new structure, using the experience gained during the operation of Permit and Sturgeon class ships. The main task of the Los Angeles-class ships was to support their own groups of aircraft carriers by destroying Soviet fighter ships - especially the Victor-class - in forward positions. The new US Navy units received a cylindrical hull in place of a droplet, which greatly facilitated the hull structure. Units of this type also received a new water-cooled nuclear reactor (S6G), which improved its performance. Efforts were also made to silence the gym as much as possible and generally reduce the noise generated by the ship. The USS Dallas, belonging to this class, patrolled the Atlantic basin shortly after entering service, having the Groton base as its home port. In 1998, the unit changed the rods in the reactor - from the D1G-2 type to the D2W type. At that time, the unit was also adapted to support the operations of special forces. After this modernization, the unit served in the Indian Ocean, in the Persian Gulf region or in the Mediterranean Sea. USS Dallas (SSN-700) was decommissioned in May 2017.
