NLV Galatea, together with its sister unit NLV Pharos, was designed in the Design and Construction Office of the Repair Shipyard. The main designer of both units was S³awomir Nied¼wiadek. The main task of NLV Galatea is to independently perform any tasks related to the operation, repair or replacement of sea buoys. For this reason, the ship has a fairly high autonomy of up to 35 days. The unit has very accurate and modern communication and positioning equipment based on the latest technologies. The unit operates off the coast of England, Wales and around the Channel Islands.
