Strakonice Castle is a Czech stronghold dating back to the full Middle Ages, located in the South Bohemian country. Based on source studies, it can be stated that the Strakonice castle was built in the second half of the 12th century (around 1150), and its owners were initially the knightly Bavor family. At that time, the castle served strictly military functions. It was situated at the fork of two rivers, which only increased its military value. At the beginning of the 15th century, the castle became the property of the Knights of Malta (the Knights of Malta at the time), and around 1600 it was rebuilt into a Renaissance residential residence. During the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) the buildings were plundered and largely destroyed by the Swedish army. After 1648, the castle was rebuilt, along with a magnificent palace. At present, the castle of Strakonice serves as a museum.
