The 20.3 cm SK C / 34 is a German 203 mm naval gun from the interwar period and World War II. The weapon was developed in the late 1930s and entered service in the Kriegsmarine in 1939. It was the main armament of the Admiral Hipper-class heavy cruisers, i.e. the Prinz Eugen, Blücher and Admiral Hipper ships. The total weight of the gun was about 21 tons, and its barrel was 12.15 meters long. The initial velocity of the shells ranged from 363 to 744 m / s, depending on the type of shell used and the angle of elevation of the barrel. The cannon fired projectiles weighing up to 122 kilograms, and its maximum firing range was 33,500 meters, but the effective firing range was shorter. The maximum theoretical rate of fire for this gun was 4 to 5 rounds per minute. The presented cannon was mounted in the towers 248-tonne Drh LC / 34 each with two guns of this type. The 20.3 cm SK C / 34 gun was at least comparable to the British BL 8 inch gun Mark VIII or the Italian 203 mm L / 53 gun by Ansaldo in terms of ballistic parameters and penetration of ship armor.
