USS Montrose (APA-212) was an American armed transport ship of the Second World War. The keel for this unit was laid in June 1944, a the launch took place in September of the same year, and the entry into service with the US Navy took place in November 1944. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 139 meters and 19 meters wide. Full displacement reached approx. 15,000 tons, and the maximum speed was approx. 17-18 knots. The unit had on-board armament such as: a single 127mm cannon, one quadruple 40mm AA cannon, four twin 40mm guns and 10 single 20mm AA cannons.

The USS Montrose was one of the Haskell-class ships. Units of this type began entering service in 1944 and were intended to support large-scale amphibious operations. They were able to transport from 17 to 24 landing barges of various types (eg LCM, LCVP or LCPR), along with approx. 1500 soldiers and their equipment. The USS Montrose combat trail began with support for the Okinawa landing operation in 1945. Shortly after the end of World War II, the unit was transferred to the reserve of the Pacific Fleet (1946), but was returned to active service in 1950 and took an active part in the Korean War (1950-1953) and the initial phase of the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965- 1975). In 1969, the USS Montrose was finally decommissioned.
